My Dad: The viral video that showed Singapore's last songkok maker.

Welcome to my dad's day.

The last songkok maker (Hopefully not).

It was supposed to be a simple plain day, following my father to his warehouse. He has an appointment to hand over a custom made songkok to a customer. As we got into the car to his warehouse, we discussed how to keep his business afloat during the upcoming Ramadan month. Normally my father and mother will get super busy during the fasting month at our old Tanjong Katong Complex (TKC) shop. They even had to hire people to help with sales. Since TKC's closure, he moved to City Plaza. He has decided not to continue being at City Plaza as rent was expected to increase, even when there is little to no footfall there on normal days.

Back to the our discussion in the car, I shared my ideas on making TikTok videos for exposure. He was skeptical that it might not turn out well. I said it's ok, for now you just do what you normally do. For today, I will be your shadow and record you. With a bit of Capcut knowledge and a few edits, I showed mother and him for their approval. Macam boss pulak, diorang tak bayar gaji pun :/. When they said it's nice, I baca bismillah and waited for the day's 8pm to post. I was expecting a few hundred views, but little did I know, the video would be viral. If you have not watched it, I have attached it here or you can view on TikTok at this link.

How did it become viral?

A big thank you, to his customers who have reposted even without being asked.

He likes to interact personally with his customers. Sometimes giving bad dad jokes that I've heard thousands of times that I have to eye roll without them seeing me. That is his way to make the customers feel at home. So when this video came out, everyone's main question was answered. Most times we were asked, "Is your shop open? Where is your shop now? Why close?"

How do we reach out to the whole of SG community? For now, I try my best to put him out on social media. It's free. He doesn't want me to waste money on advertising.

Ramadan's coming

A month of blessing, prayers with big rewards for the whole world's Muslim community.

He has informed me to put up a sign to tell everyone he will be expecting walk-ins from 19 Feb 2026 to 20 Mar 2026 at his warehouse, 3013 Bedok Industrial Park E #02-2088.

If you wish to purchase or even have a songkok tailored, you can click here Buy Now or leave a comment to show you were here reading this until the last line.

Thank you so much. Hj Abdul Wahab and I greatly appreciate your unwavering support. Have a blessed month ahead.
